Whippet - Small - Young - Male - Dog - Teddy

Meet Teddy. This is one special little boy. He is guessed to be a mixture of breeds including Terrier/Whippet/Boxer/who-knows-what. He has a docked tail and super expressive eyes. He is 20 pounds at a good weight, and about 1.5 years old. With his family, Teddy is wonderful! He is very loving and affectionate. He is good with other dogs, good with cats and is crate trained/housebroken. He loves to cuddle and is a lap dog. :) He will get all the way up by your face and shower you with kisses. Teddy knows commands such as 'sit', 'down', 'come', 'roll over', 'wait', 'go to your house' (crate) and 'leave it'. He is extremely smart and very food orientated. He is not overly energetic but does love to play and chase like a typical terrier. Teddy is good with teenagers but not recommended for small children. However, Teddy over-bonds with his family/owner and can sometimes be wary of strangers and may show aggression in the form of jumping up and pulling on clothes. This includes on walks and people coming into the home. He has already improved drastically from when he first entered our program. But still, Teddy cannot be adopted to just any ol' home. He absolutely requires a very experienced adopter who is knowledgeable on behavior issues and positive reinforcement methods. We know it'll take Teddy much longer to be adopted but that is okay with us. He is a very special boy and will make someone a great pet if someone will take a chance on him. If you take on the challenge, it will be a very fulfilling experience to mold him into a upstanding doggy citizen. He is being fostered in West Lafayette IN. I am willing to drive a reasonable distance if it means that Teddy finds the perfect home.
