I am looking for the maintenance supervisor position. I am a trained master craftsman with over twenty-five years of experience in building, remodeling, and restoration. The latter part my career I have primarily been in management positions which required overseeing employees from diverse racial and linguistic backgrounds, as well as managing the design, implementation and completion of large and small construction projects. My leadership skills are complemented by my abilities to effectively and cost-efficiently estimate project costs and stick to projected timelines.

I received my carpentry training in France with an old world artisan’s guild, and have utilized that as my underlying skill set. Since then, I have also increased my capabilities in roofing, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical and landscaping. As a result of my experience and training, I can truly say that I bring a diverse set of capabilities to any project(s) I undertake. I developed a strong work ethic, and a close attention to detail, while under the apprenticeship program of the carpenter’s guild in France, and am a very independent and hard worker who requires little oversight. I also have very strong organizational skills, follow directions well, and am very responsible. I am always eager to learn, and to teach what I know to others.

Employment in France

Compagnon du Tour de France
Comprehensive training and employment in woodworking, construction, architecture, and art. My training included learning how to design and build timber frame homes, staircases, furniture, gazebos, decks, well-houses, wood and metal sculptures, as well as architectural drafting, design and painting. While affiliated with this guild from 1985 to 2004, I worked on over thirty-five construction projects. More information about the Compagnons and photos of my work with them furnished upon request.

Education

My education from high school through the Masters level was acquired under the guidance of the Compagnon du Tour de France. This apprentisage system does not exist in the United States, nor do the craftsguilds in the U.S. provide such a comprehensive and artistic and scientific training. As a student of the Compagnon, I had the unique opportunity to learn through classroom and hands-on training. While in their training I received my Brevet Technicien Superieur, Brevet Professionnel and two Certificats dAptitude Professionnel, Charpentier and Menuisier. These are the equivalent to a high school, undergraduate and Masters level degrees in carpentry and furniture making.
